Stephen graduated in the top 5 of his class from the Charleston School of Law. Stephen then obtained his LL.M in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law – one of the top Tax LL.M programs in the country.
Stephen began his practice with Eversheds Sutherland, a global multinational law firm that boasts one of the most prestigious tax practices in the world. While with Eversheds Sutherland, Stephen advised some of the world’s largest and most sophisticated corporate taxpayers. Stephen concentrated his tax practice on state and local taxation, advising clients on the tax impact of complex business transactions, corporate mergers and acquisitions, and multistate tax litigation.
Stephen left Eversheds Sutherland to start Britt and Burroughs, Attorneys at Law, LLC. Stephen used his experience with complex corporate tax issues to advise and represent individuals, small- and medium-sized businesses in a wide variety of federal and state tax matters.
Stephen now leverages his experience with complex tax issues and business transactions to identify investment opportunities and manage Trimera’s real estate development projects.
